Le Thanh Son was born in Hanoi in 1962 and graduated from the Hanoi College of Drama and Cinematography in 1986. He fills his canvases with clear, bright colors and is well known for the interplay of light and shadow in his works. Son is a well-respected artist and is famous for his distinct impressionistic style and intimate atmosphere that can be found in villages around Hanoi. Le Thanh Son draws from his cinematic background to paint realistic scenes of Hanoi, infused with a sense of lighting unsurpassed by any other painter in Vietnam at the moment. His canvases are alive and merry, signifying a celebration of life. Le Thanh Son's work is widely exhibited throughout Asia, Europe, Australia and North America. He has received numerous honors and awards and his paintings are held in public and private collections worldwide, including that of former US President Bill Clinton and Microsoft founder, Bill Gates. His paintings have sold at auction including Sotheby’s and can be seen at numerous museums including the Eastern Museum – USSR.
